Russia opens first Visa Application Centre in India in New Delhi« Back
Russia, in order to make visa application process faster and more efficient, has opened a Visa Application Centre in New Delhi. India is the first country in Asia to house a Russian Visa Application Centre. Three more such Centres will be opened, in Mumbai (November 20), Kolkata (November 24), and Chennai (December 1). The Visa Centre in New Delhi is set up by Indra Visa Fiduciary Services Pvt. Ltd. at Ashoka Estate, Barakhamba Road. Lex Systems are managing the facility.
Announcing the commencement of the Centre in New Delhi, Denis Alipov, Minister Counsellor, Deputy Chief of Mission, Russian Embassy in Delhi, said that the Visa Application Centre has advanced security features and state-of-the-art technology. Going by the experiences in other countries, he said, the visa application facility will ease the process for travel agents, tour operators, and travellers in general.
Alipov said that they will be trying to incorporate more transparent features, such as cashless transactions and online facilitation, at the Centre. “One of the prime objectives of the Russian Visa Application Centre is to improve the quality of service provided to Indian citizens seeking visa to the Russian Federation, to accelerate and simplify visa processing,” he stated.
Alexander Abramov, General Director, Lex Systems, said that the Centre will perform the technical functions associated with the processing of documents required to obtain the Russian visa; however, the final decision on visa issuance or denial will rest with the Russian Consulate. Besides visa documentation and processing, the Centre will provide information on the various attractions and offerings in Russia, and other such tourism-relevant details, he said.
A delegation from the Russian travel industry, comprising members of Association of Tour Operators of Russia; destination management companies like KMP Group, and Academservice; and hotels like Metropol Hotel, and Park Inn by Radisson; among others, were also present on the occasion of the announcement of the opening of the Centre in New Delhi.
